Press release
On February 1, 2022, at 01:58, an explosion occurred in a furnace in Foundry Shop No. 1, resulting in the partial destruction of the production building and the unit itself.

There were no casualties as a result of the incident. Three employees of the plant were at the epicenter, two of whom required and received prompt medical attention. After a thorough medical examination, the employees were released home for at-home rehabilitation.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the incident was water entering the raw material of the smelting furnace, which led to an explosion and, as a result, the destruction of the unit's structures.

Fatal consequences for personnel were avoided thanks to the flawless operation of the equipment's safety systems, which promptly shut off the gas supply and prevented a potential fire. A liquid metal spill was prevented thanks to the emergency pit system. The building's passive safety elements—easy-to-remove structures—also helped dampen the blast wave, minimizing the consequences.

Together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations staff, who quickly arrived at the scene, the consequences of the explosion were promptly localized using the enterprise's fire extinguishing equipment.

There are no threats to the environment or health of residents of Maloyaroslavets.

The plant is operating normally. Operations at adjacent workshops have been restored.

The damaged equipment and workshop building will be restored following an investigation and examination of the supporting structures.
