Leading Russian metalworking company AGRISOVGAZ is participating in a unique greenhouse complex construction project in the permafrost zone of Anadyr.

AGRISOVGAZ greenhouses are suitable for operation in any climatic conditions and are designed for operation from -50 to +50 0C.
"The 1,152-square-meter industrial greenhouse designed and delivered by our company to Anadyr in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug is unique," noted Maxim Yakibchuk, CEO of AGRISOVGAZ. "This facility was specifically designed for use in the extreme climatic conditions of the coastal region of the Far North in the permafrost zone. As a result of the project, more than 15,000 residents of the city and surrounding communities will have year-round access to up to 100 tons of fresh vegetables per year, grown using the 'light culture' technology, which will cover more than 50% of their consumption."
The project design calls for the construction of vegetable, seedling, and processing sections under a single greenhouse roof. It will include 8-meter-wide span structures and 5-meter-high columns. The main distinguishing feature of the structure will be the placement of the metal structures and greenhouse equipment not on the traditional pre-prepared soil of the construction site, but on the surface of a monolithic reinforced concrete slab. This will prevent heat transfer to the permafrost soil. A ventilated subfloor will ensure the preservation of permafrost in the underlying soil, maintain its load-bearing capacity, and comply with the environmental parameters of the construction site.
A monolithic reinforced concrete slab, designed according to load calculations, will facilitate the organized collection and removal of condensate and process wastewater for subsequent disposal thanks to a thermal insulation layer, a water pipe heating system, and specialized drainage channels.
The greenhouse will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and production technologies, ensuring the planned yield of fresh vegetables, which is essential for the population living in these harsh conditions. Vegetables will be grown using environmentally friendly, low-volume hydroponics on hanging trays, while seedlings for internal use will be grown on equally safe hydroponic systems with mobile tables and an ebb-and-flow system. Drainage water from irrigation and feeding of both seedlings and vegetables will also be recycled, with preliminary cleaning and disinfection. This virtually eliminates wastewater discharge outside the greenhouse and minimizes the negative impact on the environment of this region of the Russian Far North.
The greenhouse has already been assembled and is currently being outfitted with equipment and utilities. Completion is scheduled for 2021.
